At UL, we are aware that there are more than 80,000 chemicals used in commerce today, and only three percent of those have been fully evaluated for adverse effects. Closing this gap is a key reason why we aggressively develop new ways to test products, chemicals and materials. It is also why we are so focused on designing more effective methods for investigating product attributes, which helps us identify and understand new and emerging health risks. Every day, we help manufacturers better understand the impact of their products and demonstrate ways to minimize any harmful effects.

UL has developed more than 1,000 Standards. Thousands of products and their components are tested
to our rigorous requirements every year.
