Overview

Photovoltaics is one of the most important sources of renewable energy due to its proven ability to reduce the CO2 emissions associated with traditional energy generation methods. PV generation has achieved tremendous growth in global capacity since 2000 thanks largely to improvements in cost efficiency, which increasingly makes PV an economically feasible alternative to traditional energy sources. Nevertheless, reliability and safety issues may hinder the broader market adoption of PV technology. UL looks at PV generation holistically and works with the industry to identify, test and mitigate current and future safety and reliability risks.
